We hope you engaged with us as we embarked on our journey of learning in regard to all things social media. “Excellent!” “Enticing!” “Easy!” are some of the comments we’ve heard. We’ve given you a lot to do and hope you’ve been able to follow along (if you have, then like us, you’re starting to realize that this challenge is rewarding – we’ve been amazed at how much we’ve learned so far – and at how little we knew before we started. Amazing). As I write this, Neil is in Vancouver with Blenz Coffee guy, George Moen, at the launch of his new line of protein shake products – a hugely successful event, promoted entirely via social media. What? So. In our first week we organized our first Meetup. We helped you set up an RSS feed so you can follow our daily blog posts. We’ve become friends on Facebook – and we decided to “like” the Social Media Challenge. We’ve also learned the value of connecting various applications and showing them in our contact information. And, we’ve even created our very own channel on YouTube.

Why? Because we’re learning the value and usefulness of Social Media and how it can help us grow our business in ways never before possible or even imagined. To show that it’s starting to work we’d like to share some of our stats.

  • 81 friends on Facebook.
  • 60 followers on Twitter on our #socmedchal.
  • 45 members in our Meetup group.
  • 571 views of our YouTube video (with 5 subscribers to our channel)

Not bad for a couple of newbie’s or “Social Media Immigrants!” as @Shane Gibson describes us.

How? Simple: we practiced what we preached. What’s more we had fun – and we connected with people – all across the WWW – from the US to India and Australia. If we can do this in just 7 days imagine what we (and you) will do in 90! We now believe that this exercise is well worth our time and effort.
