While Neil is hard at work in New York City this week (no doubt gathering great examples of what dangerous marketers are doing to grow their businesses in the Big Apple), I had the opportunity last night to speak to a networking group here at home – on a very hot topic. Can you guess what it was? Right: “How to grow your business – 21st Century style – using social media!”

Imagine the scene – a group of successful business people coming together to network, eat some great food – and start getting  themselves up to speed on social media. Lawyers, Accountants, Engineers, Web designers, Consultants, Artists and many others – all consummate entrepreneurs, all ready by the end of the evening to follow our blog and take on the challenge of integrating social media into their own businesses. It was exciting!!

But wait. Three weeks ago, I couldn’t have imagined taking the stage and speaking for an hour about my new found passion. Three weeks ago I didn’t know that Facebook, YouTube, Blogging and Linking (and all the other SM tools) could actually be used to build business. Isn’t it amazing – in our digital age – how much we can learn; how quickly we can learn it – and how quickly we can transpose that learning into real business practices – and then share that learning with an audience. Wow .

It’s Saturday – so today we’ll pass on the What, Why and How, and leave you with this thought: Over the past 18 days we’ve shared enough information and how-to’s to put you in the top 5% of all local businesses. Even if you use just one or two of the SM tools to grow your business, you can position yourself as a relevant expert, and target your customers with laser like accuracy. The tools are there, but the challenge is this: “Will you use them?”

Tipzntrix: Spend some time in our archives – there’s 18 days of gold dust worth panning. And please do sign up for our marketing Dangerously mailing list and do share us with your own networks.
Have a great weekend! jc

    Thanks, Jonathan!
Absolutely everyone needs social media to be successful these days, along with a very positive attitude, and an excellent product or service, of course.
And that extra bit – the sense of humour or colourful idea!
Your articles keep us all motivated to try something new…
