What? Today let’s look at a brand new twist on ‘Return to Sender,’ the ‘Re-tweet’ (RT) on Twitter. Basically, retweeting is simply forwarding what someone else has written, to your own followers – while letting the original writer know that you have done so. Recycling someone else’s work in this way sends kudos back to the writer – earning you visibility, gratitude and respect – while saving you the time and effort involved in coming up with something original. Neat huh?
Why? Neil still doesn’t use Twitter routinely. Why? Because, he says, “there just isn’t enough time in the day.” If you share that challenge, then retweets can solve the problem.
How? After an hour of trying to write this post, and not being happy, I had an aha moment. “Why don’t you find a good tweet and simply retweet it (you fool)?” So I did. I found an excellent article specifically on retweeting. The tweet was from Mohsin Naqi of Pakistan (you can follow him at @MohsinN). And here¹s the link to his blog post: http://bloggingbits.com/the-art-and-science-of-retweeting-for-twitteraholics/. Ah, now we’re getting somewhere.
Tipzntrix: Retweeting is an excellent way to add quality and relevance to your Twitter stream. But your retweets must be of real value to your followers, or retweeting can actually hurt your personal brand and future traffic. If done right, Retweeting can help you build trust, educate your followers, build your company or personal brand, increase future traffic, and connect you to potential customers. Key point: Social media is all about trust when you become a trusted source, people will follow you trust me! (Jonathan @jdgem).
Special Note: We are now going to run Social Media Challenge articles on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week. And we will run our Marketing Dangerously email newsletter – with the Idea of the Week, and the Idea of the Day – every Tuesday ‘n Thursday (T’nT). Thanks for being with us. Neil and Jonathan.

Retweeting is definitely a time saver if you want to participate but don’t have time to make up original ideas or aren’t confident enough to put your own thoughts into cyberspace.
