Day 45: Can we make this LION roar?

What? Okay. We joined LinkedIn. Set up a group for our social media challenge. Invited everyone in our data base to link in with us. Sent out messages to those in our LinkedIn network (mainly about challenge blog entries, and upcoming Meetup gatherings for challenge followers). Now we want to expand our network exponentially. And, as I said on Monday, we’ve been told (and we’ve read) that the way to do that is to become a LION (a ‘LinkedIn Open Networker’) and/or a member of Toplinked – LinkedIn’s special group/platform for people (like us) who want to really leverage the program.

Why? TopLinked’s promo says the group has 75,000+ members. It adds: “By adding yourself to the TopLinked.com ‘Invite Me List’ you can reach every open networker on LinkedIn,” adding, “there is no need to waste your time on anything else.” Okay. Sounds great. This is exactly what I want to do. But. I just tried again (in vain) to find any reference to the alleged ‘Invite Me List,’ and when I access ‘Help’ there is nothing there. Hmm.

How? I’ve sent a message to members of the TopLinked group, asking if anyone can give me a blow by blow on how to access the Invite Me List, and how to use the platform generally. But I also want to hear from you…I’m interested to know if anyone in our network is using TopLinked, or is a member of one of the LION groups – and how you are using it – step by step – to grow your network and promote your business. Tipzntrix: When I talk about LinkedIn to business owner-operators (our key target market), I often hear the comment that “LinkedIn looks like a site for job hunters, not for business people.” My response: “LinkedIn members are high end job seekers. They are professionals and business people in their own right, so let’s not discount their importance to us.” At the same time, I point out that while LinkedIn is ‘the’ ideal tool for job hunters, it is also ‘the’ primary social media site for business owner-operators and independent professionals – even if we are fewer in number than those looking to make a career change. In other words. We’ve got to crack this nut. Can you help?
